For many years there has been a need for a high-quality, independent international school in Conakry to serve both the local and expatriate communities. The English Speaking Community School was founded in 2005 to meet this need.
The English Speaking Community School of Guinea (ESCS), is a non-profit, private, co-educational day and boarding school, located at Kaporo Beach Road, in a quiet and secure residential area.
ESCS, founded in September 2005, offers a challenging and comprehensive curriculum taught in English to students from multicultural backgrounds. It serves parents who wish to have their children pursue a primary and/or secondary education in English, in a stimulating and caring environment.
The curriculum balances academic and extra curricular subjects to give a good opportunity for the development of attitudes, concepts, skills and knowledge: the tools for future success. Extra Curricular subjects offered include vocal and instrumental music skills, Computer Technology, and swimming. The curriculum is taught using creative approaches from around the world. Within the program, English as a second Language is available for non-English speaking students, and French is taught as a subject for two hours weekly.
Enrollment has grown over the years but the school continues to maintain its class sizes between 2 to 15 students, and the student teacher ratio at 6:1.
ESCS, is not just another school. The scope of our academic curriculum is designed to maintain high standards of academic learning and to help each child reach his/her greatest potential.
At ESCS, children are particularly encouraged to develop a sense of identity, self-esteem and independence.

This website provides a lot of information concerning the basic framework of the ESCS school life; however it cannot truly represent the atmosphere and character of the school. To experience this, you must visit the school, and look at the classes in action. Therefore you are warmly invited to visit the school between 8:00am and 4:00pm Mondays to Thursdays and before 2:00pm on Fridays. With your own observations, you have the basis to make an informed choice of school for your child.
We look forward to meeting you, and in due course, welcoming your child to the English Speaking Community School of Guinea.
